Studio Recording
Hello! While I am happy to consider recording some saxophone for your project, whether it be a relaxed tenor riff for a reggae record or a funky baritone bassline for your indie folk rock song, I do have some important info for you to chew on before we get started.
Timeline:
Please keep in mind I have a very complex schedule and because of this I don't do quick turnovers. If you need it done by tomorrow I am not your guy. To properly accommodate my schedule I require the music (and related materials) you need me to record at least a month ahead of time before turning in the recording. Two months if you want it to sound amazing. I work best knowing what my deadlines are, so make sure you have a clear idea of when you need the recording finished so I can get it to you.
Rates:
My flat fees for most recordings are $200 for short/simple music and $400 longer/complex music. For extremely long, complex and difficult to play music I might have to negotiate a higher fee. This is without considering add-ons.
Add-ons:
All recording fees that require add-ons must be paid 50% in advance. All recording fees without add-ons must be paid 25% in advance.
To be blunt, please have a clear vision for the music you need me to record before contacting me because more add-ons means you could end up spending $500-700+ for your recording.
Necessary materials:
Prior to recording please be sure to send me all music pdfs, lead sheets, chord changes, reference recordings, backing tracks, or click tracks so I can be informed as possible as to how you want the recording to sound.
Mics:
I use a KU5A super cardioid ribbon mic and/or Shure SM81 small diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone for sound capture.
Saxophones:
I am game to record music on soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass saxophones.

- An additional $100 if I have to write or improvise the sax part for your song from scratch.
- An additional $100 if I have re-write your sax part. Either because of transcription software related mistakes, if I have to transpose it to the right key for you, or change the range of the written part to fit the saxophone's actual, playable range.
- An additional $100 If you need me to improvise a solo but do not provide me with a chord chart or lead sheet.
- An additional $100+ for any significant changes you need to make to the part at the last minute.
